Caffeine Isn’t So Bad

It appears that multiple studies have confirmed the fact that the caffeine from a cup of coffee each day can help prevent a leaky “blood brain barrier”, a possible contributing factor to Alzheimer’s Disease.

BBC reports:

A vital barrier between the brain and the main blood supply of rabbits fed a fat-rich diet was protected in those given a caffeine supplement.

UK experts said it was the “best evidence yet” of coffee’s benefits.

The “blood brain barrier” is a filter which protects the central nervous system from potentially harmful chemicals carried around in the rest of the bloodstream.

/me does the “whoo-hoo” caffeine-train-dance…

Photographic Simplicity

Aspar-c650

My wife has been accumulating All-Clad cookware.  The stuff is probably the best line of cookware available to the general public in terms of even heating and overall performance.  The stuff also just looks cool.

Flemings

While the vast majority of my posts are directly related to things that have some connection to the digital world, I’ll be the first to admit that this post has absolutely nothing to do with anything digital.

My father’s birthday was last night, it was one of those even-numbered decade birthdays, so we decided to find a great place to eat to celebrate.  During her time as a sales rep, my wife had the steakhouse called Fleming’s as a client, and she loved it so we decided to go to Fleming’s for his birthday.  I’ve had some great steak in my time on this earth, but I don’t think I’ve ever had steak that has been better than the steak at Flemings.  The ribeye I had was full of flavor, tender, and cooked perfectly to order, but the steak that really impressed me was my father’s filet mignon.  Even rare, the steak was not chewy, and had amazing flavor and texture.

Be warned that the Fleming’s experience is not cheap as everything is a-la-carte.  4 people with a healthy selection of sides, salads, and cocktails ran about $310 before tip.  But I’ll be back for special occasions.
