Adobe Photoshop Express

While many other sites have been reporting this, I appreciated the concise and specific coverage of the Adobe Photoshop Express beta launch at ars technica.

Photoshop Express looks to offer basic and intermediate level manipulation of images via a flash enabled web interface with immediate support of Facebook, Photobucket, and Picasa.  And they have stated that flickr integration is coming.  All for the lovely price of free

As a flickr user, I’m not going to be putting a great deal of effort into looking at this in the near-term, but I will be taking a close look at it after it integrates with flickr.

The World Just Isn’t Ready for Linux

The world just isn’t ready for Linux by ZDNet‘s Adrian Kingsley-Hughes details some of the real reasons people don’t make the leap from Microsoft based OS products to open source.  The are also a couple of other very valid reasons such as a desire to maintain 100% compatibility with apps used in the workplace and a basic need for apps that can closely tie in to support MS server products for IT geeks like myself.

For the foreseeable future, only the hardest of geeks can rely on Linux derivatives for their day to day computing needs.

IE7 and CSS Compatability

After seeing this blog entry referenced in Slashdot, I am pleased that active steps are being taken to make IE7 (shipping with the new Microsoft OS Vista, aka Longhorn) more CSS compliant. With IE7's catching up in the features game with tabbed windows, a seamless inline search, and integrated RSS support, CSS support might provide reason enough for many to seriously look at IE again. While not a huge fan of IE, significant competition in the browser market will only inspire both sides to innovate. Nothing wrong with that. Posted: 08.01.2005
